She left Norway for Bottineau on April 19, 1910, on the ship Tasso, of the Cunard Line. Oddly enough, there was another Helga Hansen on the same ship, born the same year, bound for Chicago. I also found her arrival in 1910 at Boston, on My 5th. She lists her father as Ole Hansen. She says that she is a saleswoman. Most importantly, she says that she is going to join her brother Olaf Hansen at 822 9th Avenue, South, Minneapolis

Why she and Hans Oskar got married in Montana is a puzzle.

He left Norway for Duluth, Minnesota on February 8, 1910, He used the name Johann, T. Olsen, Kristiansen, Haugen. He left for the US on February 11, 1910 from Christianna. He was shown as a miller, bound for Duluth. He lists his next of kin as his wife Emma back in Steinkjer. He says that he is going to join his friend Ole Nilsen in Duluth. I infer from everything that he and Emma never got back together. But what happened to him?

In his son Samuel's marriage registration, he is described as a quarry master. Helen Dunn says that her mother informed me that when she was a child, that if a McKee of Newry coal cart passed, her mother would say that they were her cousins. Helen has never been able find any record of Coal Merchants named McKee, but wonders if perhaps they were quarry carts and not coal carts.
In the 1901 census, he was a stone cutter, The daughter Annie was a dress maker.
